BAE SYSTEMS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES IOC MILESTONE ON DND PLER TSPI SYSTEM.

BAE Systems, Integrated Technical Solutions, has successfully demonstrated Initial Operational Capability (IOC) of the Time, Space, Position, and Information (TSPI) System for the Canadian Forces (CF) Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment (AETE) Primrose Lake Evaluation Range (PLER).

The new TSPI system has been installed and tested at PLER near Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada under a competitive procurement PWGSC contract awarded to BAE Systems in November 2004. This TSPI System consists of four remotely controlled mobile Optical Tracking Mounts (OTMs) networked together with a Target Acquisition and Tracking System (TATS) to provide a fully integrated, state-of-the-art solution providing the CF and allies extremely accurate TSPI data on airborne targets. Each OTM is equipped with two 50/100/200 inch configurable high speed (510 fps)/low speed (30fps) camera telescopes, an IR camera/lens and a tracking camera/lens all feeding a high capacity digital video recorder capable of recording 30 minutes of high speed digital video. Additionally, each OTM is provided with an eye-safe, Megawatt Class Laser Range Finder that allows each OTM to operate independently as a single TSPI station capable of tracking a 275mm target at 14km. A significant advancement in test range technology, this TSPI System offers real-time streaming video from the OTM sensors broadcast via standard Ethernet and microwave protocols over the TSPI network to any display station on the network.  Photos are of one OTM (right) and a local control shelter (below) of the PLER TSPI System. IOC was achieved on 15 March 2007 with the successful tracking of GPS guided parachute drops over PLER in support of the testing DND performed on the MMIST Sherpa system. Over a period of several days, the PLER TSPI System tracked the Sherpa payloads being dropped over the range and provided TSPI data on events that occurred during the test scenarios.

Final Operational Capability testing continues at PLER.
